Please someone help me, my credit score is ruined from fraud?

On September 15th, 2011 by admin | 4 Comments | Posted in Uncategorized

Can someone please give me advice as to what I should do? Here’s my problem: In August 2006 I tried this thing called ‘WhiteOvernite’ as a sample. I only paid shipping/handling and that was that. Over one year later (Oct 2007), I received a letter from a debt collector stating that I owe $176 for the product I used. I was stunned…what is going on? Recently I tried to get a loan for a used car and I was denied because of a ‘delinquency’ on my credit report. Sure enough when I checked it, there was $176 charged as delinquent. Please help me, I’ve had an impeccable credit score until now. This fraud has cost me my credit score, what should I do?? HELP
1) Yes I checked Experian.
2) I’ve already sent in a dispute to Experian and to the Attorney General’s Office via email.
3) I used my credit card for the shipping, so I figured if they were to try and charge me they would have done it through my credit card. But instead they went straight to their debt collector.

Scholarships, credit score and legal action?

On September 12th, 2011 by admin | 1 Comment | Posted in Uncategorized

Hello,
I’m having an issue with a scholarship and need to know my options. I graduated from Ohio State in 2005. I was awarded a scholarship in 2004 from the company my dad works. I sent my scholarship in right away for 2004. Ohio State took it off of my account as being paid. I graduated and ordered transcripts which verified I owed nothing. I applied for a PhD program in November 2009, but my order wasn’t processed because of a “hold” on my account. I contacted them. They informed me that they never received a payment from the scholarship and placed it on my account and sent a collection agency after it. They put it back on my account September 2009, five years after the scholarship was issued and never once contacted me before going to a collection agency. My permanent address was the same throughout this process. We were able to get a hold of the company that was paying for the scholarship and they said they never received the bill. They said they would be willing to pay the remainder. I got the information and sent it to Ohio State to bill them. On my first try, the company has been very organized and sent the payment to OSU. I tend to believe this company that they were never billed. OSU said that they had been trying to collect the payment on numerous occasions, but I don’t believe them. They had lost three of my scholarships when I was a student back in 2001-2004. Even more, when I tried to get a hold of the staff at OSU, the ones I needed to talk to would not return my call to solve the problem. My questions are as follows: If they sent it into a collection agency, does that go against my credit score? B, If it is proven that GM paid it and OSU never billed them, can it be cleared? C) what legal options can I take in this situation? D) how can they confirm that all payments were made in 2004, but come back in 2009 and add it back to my account?

I have a 618 credit score and I am trying to lease or finance a new car?

On September 12th, 2011 by admin | 5 Comments | Posted in Uncategorized

I have a 618 credit score but I have been having trouble finding someone who will lease me a car. I am currently looking into options to finance a new jeep but I haven’t heard back from them so its not looking to good. Does anyone know of any options that I have available to me at this point? The reason I am having a hard time is because all I have on my credit report is settled credit cards and school loans from a long time ago. I have been building my credit for the past year and didn’t think I was going to have this much of a problem. I am not interested in buying a used car just interested in leasing or financing a new car. I am located on Long Island…all suggestions or info would help, thanks for your time!

high credit score but stated income loan?

On September 10th, 2011 by admin | 1 Comment | Posted in Uncategorized

we are 2 family members buying a home of 200k to 250k.

one has score of 725 and one has 750, but lender says we both need to do stated income loan cos one of the applicant can’t go full doc loan as he does self income job, but the other applicant can show full doc but her income is not enough to qualify for that amount of loan.

is he right?

will we get currest best interest rate based on our high credit score? Or will will get higher interest rate for 30 yr fixed cos we are doing stated income loan?
we are putting 5% down and the lender guy said we can do that without problem.

what’s your advice?

Is my mom hurting my credit score?

On September 9th, 2011 by admin | 3 Comments | Posted in Uncategorized

My mom added me onto her credit card when I was younger to help build my credit score and account length. The reason I’d like to keep myself under the card is because it has a $12,000 credit limit, and is my oldest card, opened in 2003. I personally have 2 cards, one opened 2008 and one in 2010. The problem is that the card she opened for me has about $7000 on it. Now my mom IS responsible and I know she will get rid of the balance, but is it worth the wait? I just got my 3 free credit reports and I’m thinking of disputing my moms cards, but I’m not sure if I should. What would you do? My credit score on CreditKarma shows 740, so it doesn’t seem to be affecting me too bad?

How do you get declined for a small loan with a 700 credit score?

On September 9th, 2011 by admin | 2 Comments | Posted in Uncategorized

Hi. A few months ago I applied for a $3,000 loan and I was declined. They would not give me a reason and I asked them..I think they have to disclose it though. Anyway, back then I had a 700 credit score, I have an auto loan & credit card (2,800 limit..I use 5%-7% of that limit per month). I have never missed a payment and I’ve had credit for 13 months. Do you think that could be the problem?

I’d like to apply for a small $1,000 loan at a different bank, but do not want to get declined again & have another inquiry on my credit report. My score is now a 722..again never missed a payment, etc. I’m 19 years old. Do you think I will get approved? Can you recommend a good bank to take out a small personal loan with? Thank you!

Credit Score Point Difference (Equifax and Trans Union)?

On September 8th, 2011 by admin | 3 Comments | Posted in Uncategorized

I have checked my credit score on Trans Union, and got 741 points.
And when I checked on Equifax, it was 653 points.

Why is there a 88 point difference?
I pay my credit cards well, and everything.
The only difference I noticed was that on Equifax, there were two mortgages for the same house. My mortgage from the first bank expired, so I transferred it to another bank. But the problem is that the first bank is still there remaining open. But why a 88 point difference?

Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
The first bank mortage on equifax, shows the credit limit as the home value but the balance is zero.

The new bank mortage on equifax, shows the same credit limit but the balance is not zero, its the amount I am still owing.

Does that make a difference? Like the credit limit is high but the balance is zero.
**thanks ken for your answer and can you please answer my other additional quesiton
**bdancer
but i agree it should be shown but on the comments it doesn’t say closed or anything.
